Two shepherds

Once two shepherds started fighting over a sheep both claiming it his own, they fought near a steep ravine in the alps. Eventually one shepherd overcame the other, and threw him down the ravine, and proceeded to pick up the small sheep. But as soon as he turned he realized that his whole flock was missing. While they had been fighting, a wolf had stealthily come down the slope, and took the whole flock of both the shepherds.

“Well I have got at least this one” he said.

Moral, a small win is better than a big loss

My loneliness

Me and my loneliness, a perfect match,
made for each other, complete in each other.
But I am the unfaithful kind. I try to get rid of her,
seek joys elsewhere,
foreign places, dark and mysterious.
And I fail every time.
Down and dejected I weep
but she comes back to me my loneliness,
embraces me again,
sweeps over my heart and lightens my pains.
I repent, speak a few words of guilt and love
and return to the joy which is ever present for me,
my loneliness, queen of my heart, she never leaves my side.

Buzz of Love

Around a lovely rosebud, I dashed like a dart,
tore off my wings, sliced out my heart.
But when she unfolded her petals,
and sneezed me off far away,
I just rolled on the grass and laughed it all off.

Where?

With morning's gentle breeze
trampling the roses of a fresh born dew,
I head down a golden highway,
whose edges are mists of a silver hue.

Resting near a weathered milestone
high above a ravenous gorge,
I look down upon the flow
of a river's fervent urge

Waving off a silent night,
onward from a mystic cave,
it searches for a salty sea.
Thus shall I find a bitter grave?

Alone with the time that ticks
towards the end of my travels
till a wind from behind the hill rises
and my "Where?" for now, unravels.

Talaashe musalsal

Kore kagaz pe rakha ik qalam dekha
ye ghazal likh ke kagaz ko nam dekha

thi wo apni raunaq ya unki nazar thi?
Jate huwe uz roz, pur tabassum dekha.

Us pari-raah se bhatak kar bhi humne,
jahan dekha unka nishhaane-kadam dekha

Aayene sa dil koi kyun maanage, jhhalkade rang,
abhi is dil ne kuch nahi teri kasam dekha

Kar aaye sajde khaak pe unki gali mai,
apne koche mai unko bohut kam dekha

Ik subooh, unko bhool jane ka ahad kiya
Jis shams se kiya, uss mai bhi sanam dekha

Yun to arsa hua dekhe hue unhe faisal
unka khaab magar har pal har dam dekha

A Girl who wasn't there

Amidst pouting faces looking to impress,
And dodging the instinct of glancing flaunty legs,
I spotted across a four lane drive
a moment of quiet beauty under shade of an oak.
She stood there still for a minute or two
That’s when I thought I should wait too.
Cars horned past her, smoke blew in the face.
Rascal kids of the street even circled her at pace.
But she won’t stir a lip or change her mood,
she always looked the same, waiting in a calm grace.
I wondered, what a pure heart
must this girl have
to wait for someone like that?
Hours passed and black filled the sky,
and we two remained only souls on the street.
When for fifteen minutes no one passed by,
out of curiosity, I moved to approach her
but soon as I did,
I noticed that she moved too, towards me,
forsaking her grace, and the stillness of her air,
And as fast as I could, I fled from there.
Was it because she was interested in me
that made me loose interest?
Or that she had lost her air?
I won’t say that, for when I turned around to move
I saw that the street had been empty all through.
